How do I create more options in my life?

Let's start with an assumption: having more options in life is better than have few to none.

If you agree with that assumption as I do, then the immediate follow-up question should be:

"How do I create more options in my life?"

Let's start with an assumption: having more options in life is better than have few to none.

If you agree with that assumption as I do, then the immediate follow-up question should be:

"How do I create more options in my life?"

I've indirectly spent the last few years of my life exploring this question, and here's the running list that I've come up with. Most of them don't need any explanation, although I may turn any or all of them into separate posts as some point. Also, I'm using the word options here in the traditional sense of choices and alternatives, but also in the sense of our perception and awareness of solutions and experiences that may not have been possible from a previous state.

In order to maximize my options, I have either consciously or unconsciously started doing the following:

  • Reduce or eliminate situations, people and environments that make me feel angry, hopeless, frustrated, aggressive or massively triggered
  • Decrease personal burn rate of recurring and fixed monthly expenses
  • Allocate time for synchronicity, manifestation and allowing magic to happen
  • Take a beginner's mindset and objectively ask both obvious and non-obvious questions
  • Increase time spent adventuring and exploring new places
  • Dig deeper into mastery of things that are important to me beyond the surface level and amateur status
  • Explore new topics and subjects that seem fascinating where I have very little knowledge
  • Meditate to increase trust in the unknown and remove attachment from forcing a particular outcome

There is an incredible body of knowledge that studies the relationship between our energetic state and the options we can see. From the absolute lowest energetic, there are literally no options. We are just going to lose with no way to win. As our energy level increases, we can see the solution in black in white then many possible options all the way up to unlimited options with an definitive guidance towards the correct option for us.

One of the most important things I do to improve my ability as a leader and a Creator is to design my life to optimize for my energy. Maximizing my time spent in the highest energetic states provides me with all the options I will ever need.

What is happening today?

Today is an experiment.

Every day is an experiment really. To see if we can be a little better today than we were yesterday. To see if we can set ourselves us for a better tomorrow. And to see if we can balance it all while being fully present in the moment.

Every day is an experiment really. To see if we can be a little better today than we were yesterday. To see if we can set ourselves us for a better tomorrow. And to see if we can balance it all while being fully present in the moment.

Today is the beginning of an experiment for me that I've been thinking about for a while.

Today is my attempt to bring a lot of threads of my life together in one coherent direction. To dance with the alignment that has been presented before me.

I am beyond excited for what this could mean. I am humbled to be in a time and space where I can test my hypothesis and learn from all that life is showing me.

Today feels like the start of something magical, and I remind myself that this is an experiment. Experiments fail all of the time. And that feels okay too.

How do I get started?

I can't tell you how many times I've answered this questions for entrepreneurs at the earliest stage of building something, so I find it quite comical that I asked my friend the exact same question this morning.

"How do I get started?"

I can't tell you how many times I've answered this questions for entrepreneurs at the earliest stage of building something, so I find it quite comical that I asked my friend the exact same question this morning.

"How do I get started?"

In my case, my friend is a content marketing gangster working with super high profile people. When people ask me, it's normally in regards to how do I take this idea that I can't stop thinking about and make it real.

It could be about starting anything, and the answer is almost always the same.

So I had to laugh when my friend gave me the exact same advice that I've passed along so many times.

"Who are the people and companies who have already done this?"

We are this beautiful time in human history where no matter what we want to do or accomplish, there's almost always someone who has done something similar enough already. And even better, that origin story is available somewhere on the internet.

Find the people who have already done what you want to do and learn everything you can about what they did when they were at the stage you are at now. No need to reinvent the wheel. It's all out there waiting for you.

If you want to get started and you're not sure where to begin, look to those who have been there and done that.

What if I don't have anything to say?

I love this question. I've talked to many people early in the process who asked this and I've also been the one asking it at various points in my life.

I love this question. I've talked to many people early in the process who have asked this, and I've also been the one asking it at various points in my life.

When starting something new, there's a certain type advice that directs people to become influencers or thought leaders, to start a blog or get active on social media, look for speaking engagements and join the conversation. Get your message out there to as many people as possible. This inevitably leads to the question:

"What if I don't have anything to say?"

The answer is simple.

If you don't have anything to say, listen.

Study. Find a teacher. Be patient. Get super curious. Observe. Ask questions. Hone your craft. Learn from the masters. Get better. Put your head down and put in the work. For weeks, months, or years if you need to.

And then, after of listening, learning and putting in the work, there's no doubt that you'll have something interesting to say and the world will want to hear it.
